We are excited to invite you to participate in our upcoming Twinkling Tree Tour, a festive and family-friendly event designed to bring the holiday spirit to our community while also showcasing local businesses and organizations like yours!

About the Twinkling Tree Tour

The Twinkling Tree Tour is a unique opportunity for businesses and organizations to get involved in the holiday fun by decorating a Christmas tree at your location. Members of the community will travel around, visit participating locations, and vote for their favorite decorated trees. The event will run from November 16 to December 14, giving you plenty of time to spread holiday cheer and attract visitors to your business.

How to Participate

  1. Register: Sign up by completing the attached entry form by November 6, 2024.
  2. Decorate: Create a festive or themed Christmas tree at your location. You can decorate the tree on your own or invite a community group, such as a sports team, daycare, or community club, to help.
  3. Display: Your tree must be set up by November 16 and remain on display until December 14.
  4. Promote: Feel free to promote your participation on social media or in-store to engage customers and invite them to vote for your tree!

Contest Details

Eligibility

  • Open to local businesses, organizations, and groups (sports teams, clubs, daycares, etc.) within the Town of Wainwright.
  • Participants can either decorate their own tree or collaborate with a community group to decorate a tree on their behalf.
  • Businesses are allowed to incorporate sellable merchandise as part of their tree decoration.

Tree Guidelines

  • Size Requirements: Trees can be any size and need to fit within the display space at the business or organization’s location.
  • Decorations: Trees should be fully decorated by the start of the tour and remain up for the entire duration. Decorations should be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
  • Themes: While creativity is encouraged, trees should reflect the holiday spirit and, optionally, tie in with the business, organization, or group decorating the tree.
  • Lighting: If trees include lights, participants are responsible for ensuring they are safely powered throughout the event.

Merchandise on Trees (for Businesses)

  • Businesses may use sellable items as part of the tree’s decoration (e.g., ornaments, product samples).
  • Businesses can display price tags or promotional materials next to the tree.
  • Trees decorated with merchandise should still be creative and festive, not solely a product display.

Entry and Setup Details

  • Entry Form: Participants must complete an entry form, providing their name, location, and whether they are decorating on their own or partnering with a group. Deadline to enter: November 6, 2024. Participants can enter more than one tree.
  • Setup Period: Trees must be set up and decorated by November 16, 2024 and remain in place until December 14, 2024. Entries will receive a small sign with an entry number to place on or near the tree for voting purposes.
  • Location Accessibility: Trees must be placed in publicly accessible spaces where visitors can easily view them during business hours.

Voting and Prizes

  • Voting Method: Voting forms will be created with a listing or map of entry locations. Community members can vote either in person (via ballot box at the library) or online through the library’s website.
  • Prizes: There will be a prizes for each category.
  • Voter’s Prize: Everyone who submits a voting form will be entered into a draw.

Safety and Maintenance

  • Trees must be safely anchored to prevent tipping, especially if placed in high-traffic areas.
  • Participants are responsible for maintaining their tree's appearance throughout the event (e.g., replacing lights or securing fallen ornaments).
  • No open flames or hazardous decorations allowed.

Promotion and Engagement

  • Participants are encouraged to promote their tree and the event on social media using a hashtag (#TwinklingTreeTour).
  • The Library will promote the Twinkling Tree Tour on our website, social media, etc. 

End of Contest

  • After the voting period ends, businesses and organizations are responsible for dismantling their trees and clearing their display space.

Sponsorship Opportunity

Sponsorship of this event will be used for prizes and advertising of the Twinkling Tree Tour. A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for all cash donations.

  1. Event Sponsorship ($200): Sponsor’s name or logo will be included on all event marketing materials including posters, website, social media, voting form, entry forms and signage on the trees. Deadline: November 6, 2024
  2. Prize Sponsorship ($50): Sponsor’s name or logo will be included in the prize packages and on our website under prize sponsors. Deadline: December 6, 2024
  3. In-Kind Prize Sponsorship (varies): We will accept in-kind donations to be used as prizes but please remember that most trees will be decorated by a group of people rather than an individual. Sponsor’s name or logo will be included in the prize packages and on our website under prize sponsors. Deadline: December 6, 2024
